Lakeside Deepens Commitment to Chautauqua Ideal

Posted on January 12, 2012

Over the past seven years, Lakeside has embraced and deepened its commitment to the Chautauqua ideal by further researching the movement, visiting and meeting with the leaders of other communities on the Chautauqua Trail, and promoting our Chautauqua heritage with Lakeside residents and guests.

The Chautauqua Movement holds an honored place in North American history and Lakeside remains a leader of this cultural phenomenon. To fully honor this history and acknowledge Lakeside's mission, the Lakeside Association Board of Directors recently made a decision to adopt a new public-facing name for our cherished institution, Lakeside Chautauqua

While not a big change, it is significant because it will better ensure that residents, guests and visitors understand and value the uniqueness of our community. In the coming year, you will be hearing more about this subtle but impactful transition. Please join us by using Lakeside Chautauqua in your vernacular so that we can promote the true value and character of our community to all who visit or wish to learn more.

We also invite you to actively participate in the Chautauqua Network Annual Meeting as we welcome our sister Chautauqua communities from across the U.S. and Canada to gather at Lakeside this summer. You will be inspired and meet others who share a passion for all things Chautauqua. Together, we will continue to celebrate our Chautauqua heritage as Lakeside Chautauqua.
