Lakeside-Marblehead Lighthouse Festival

The Lakeside-Marblehead Lighthouse Festival will be held from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13.

The peninsula-wide festival will include tours of the Marblehead Lighthouse for a nominal charge and shopping on the Marblehead Peninsula.

The Ottawa County Historical Society will offer free tours of the Wolcott House on the day of the festival.

In Lakeside, more than 80 arts and crafts vendors will display quality collectibles in Wesley Lodge, South Auditorium, Wo-Ho-Mis and the lawn. Guests may also take an historic walking tour of Lakeside or a 40-minute sailboat ride with B-About Sail Ministry to the Marblehead Lighthouse.

New for this year, Lakeside will hold a Pumpkin Design Contest that will feature already carved, painted and decorated pumpkins. Receive a 2013 miniature golf pass for entering an already carved, painted or decorated pumpkin.

Prizes will be awarded to Most Creative Design Overall, Scariest Design, Best Child Design (age 11 & under), Best Youth Design (ages 12-17), Best Painted Design and Best Use of Props.

The child and youth winners will receive a 2013 Orchestra Hall Movie Pass. Winners of the other categories will receive four 2013 Daily Gate Passes. The overall winner will receive four 2013 Daily Gate Passes and a $25 gift certificate to the Hotel Lakeside Café.

Other family-friendly activities in Lakeside include live entertainment, hayrides, food, Farmers’ Market, free miniature golf, children’s inflatable play areas, free shuffleboard and a feature movie in Orchestra Hall. Children may participate in several fall-themed craft activities, such as making pine cone birdfeeders.

Reservations are now being accepted for a Fall Weekend Getaway Special at the Fountain Inn. A special rate of $89 plus tax for all standard room reservations made for Friday, Oct. 12 and Saturday, Oct. 13 is available. Visit for details.

Volunteers are needed from 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. for set-up, children’s crafts, shuttle service, the children’s inflatable area and cleanup of the festival.
