Lakeside Pavilion Update - April 2012

Posted on April 13, 2012

The Lakeside Pavilion caught fire on Feb. 14. Lakeside Chautauqua Security Officer, Andy Larson, noticed the flames and immediately alerted the Sheriff's Office who dispatched the Lakeside Volunteer Fire Department.

Damage was isolated to the east stairwell and pavilion roof. There were also damages from smoke and water to other parts of the building.

Fortunately, the firewall in the east stairwell, and the efforts of the volunteer fire departments, prevented the fire from spreading to the second floor of the pavilion.

Lakeside has been actively working with its insurance company and several contractors to rebuild the damaged portion of the pavilion. The demolition of the damaged portion was completed the first week of April. The repair work began last week.

Lakeside Chautauqua President/CEO, Kevin Sibbring, stated, "It was an unfortunate incident, but we will recover."

Sibbring and the Lakeside Chautauqua Staff are confident that the construction will be completed by Memorial Day weekend.

Lakeside Chautauqua is thankful for Larson and the local volunteer fire departments for their immediate response and bravery to save the historic structure.
