A Single Gesture of a $25 Donation Reconnects Families with Nature

Posted on June 12, 2013

The scenic nature/walking trail that borders the Lakeside Chautauqua grounds will undergo expansion come springtime. We are planning to add about one mile to the current one-mile nature/walking trail, weaving through the serene grounds of Chautauqua Park.

This month, we are challenging 100 Lakeside families to give a $25 gift or more to the Lakeside Fund to support the last feet of the nature/walking trail to be installed.

The expanded trail will link Chautauqua Park to the Lakeside community, providing a reconnection to nature and a safe path for walkers, runners, photographers, bird watchers, families, artists and explorers of all ages to discover the new wooded space and memorial garden.

Beneath a canopy of trees home to wildlife, birds, insects, a variety landscapes and plants, the nature/walking trail will continue to support active lifestyles and strengthen the social fabric of the community.

This expansion into Chautauqua Park not only focuses on wellness, but is also enhances the religious, educational and cultural elements of the Chautauqua program. This summer, the park will host several children’s nature programs, tree walks, bird walks, family picnics, plein air artists, group gatherings, memorials, and special programs such as Evening Prayer & Praise, Family Discovery Programs and the Lakeside Symphony Showcase.

We hope you are inspired to make the gesture. Lakeside Chautauqua is ready to install the remaining feet of the trail. We invite you to donate for the first time, or give an additional gift of $25 or more to the Lakeside Fund before Sunday, March 31, 2013. Your gift, along with 99 other families’ gifts, will make a significant impact this summer.
