Communities in Bloom Awards Presented

Posted on October 26, 2013

During the summer, Lakeside entered the Communities in Bloom International Challenge and on Saturday, October 26 awards were presented.  The winner of the International Challenge was the Village of Abbeyshrule, Ireland.

However, Lakeside Chautauqua was honored to receive 5 Blooms, the most blooms a community can receive.  When you consider that we were awarded 3 Blooms in 2012, the judges clearly recognized the many improvements made this year to our grounds and program. In addition, Lakeside received Special Recognition for Community Involvement and Residential Gardens, a distinction for which we can all be proud.

Finally, we were able to introduce Lakeside Chautauqua to over 500 people representing communities from around the world.  In fact, next summer we will be hosting the Canadian Government's most distinguished horticulturalist as a result of our visit to Ottawa this week.  Once again, we wish to thank all Lakesiders and our many wonderful volunteers who make Lakeside the Best and Most Unique Community in the World. That is a title we can all claim!
