Lakeside Leadership Academy plans Closing Ceremony

Posted on July 31, 2013

The Lakeside Leadership Academy (LLA) will celebrate this year’s interns’ summer experiences with a circus-themed Closing Ceremony at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, in Wesley Lodge. This Closing Ceremony is open to the entire Lakeside Chautauqua community.

At this event, each intern will present a speech about their summer experience at Lakeside.

The entire class has worked together to plan the Closing Ceremony, coordinating everything from the food to the décor for this circus-themed gathering called, "Cirque du LLA: A Balancing Act."

The LLA is an internship program that was established five years ago to provide an opportunity for selected interns to gain professional work experience and valuable networking connections in their selected career paths. This year, the program is comprised of 11 individuals who work in various departments ranging from Programming to Group Sales.

More than 100 applications were reviewed by the LLA Planning Committee this year. Applications came from long-term Lakesiders, as well as students who had never visited the community before.

Candidates were recruited at various job and internship fairs.

From those many applications, the committee chose this year’s LLA class.

Throughout the season, each intern has taken on important duties and responsibilities, and has adjusted to the fast-paced nature of the Chautauqua community by coordinating events and preparing details for several projects.

To attend the LLA Closing Ceremony, RSVP to specialeventsLLA@gmail.com or (419) 798-4461, ext. 359 by Monday, Aug. 5.
