Reminsce and Share Your Favorite Lakeside Chautauqua Experiences

Posted on October 02, 2013

Throughout these peaceful fall months, we have taken to social media to ask Lakesiders to reminisce and share their favorite Lakeside Chautauqua experiences.

Many of you shared that you miss the family time, peacefulness, relaxation, sunsets and “the feeling you get while at Lakeside.” There were also confessions of craving donuts, pizza and ice cream, at no surprise to us.

This summer, new traditions were established for many Lakeside families. Catherine Burke shared that her family purchased a cottage of their own and that they will have “Lakeside memories forever now!”

Spencer Frazier Francis posted, “Our new tradition was that we brought our 20-month-old son this year to Lakeside. He is a 5th generation Lakesider! By the end of the week, he knew where everything was. We had an amazing trip!”

For more than 140 years now, Lakeside Chautauqua has been a unique place where multiple generations form strong and special bonds.

Sean Gill shared, “When I feel my blood pressure rise this year, I’ll think back to my son and I sitting on the dock. The fish weren’t biting. The water was smooth as glass. The sunset was painted on the lake. We said nothing...because nothing needed to be said. Perfect moment.”

As you settle into your daily routines, remember that Lakeside Chautauqua is a year-round destination to rest, renew and reconnect. The family time, peacefulness, relaxation, sunsets and “the feeling you get while at Lakeside,” continues through the fall, winter and spring. We invite you to visit us during the months of fall, winter and spring.

Just as Gwen Swigart Nichols said, “When I leave Lakeside, a part of me stays behind. When I return, my heart is fuller.”

If you are unable to getaway, we hope you continue to reminisce and share your Lakeside Chautauqua experiences with us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with the hashtag #sharelksd.
