‘Amazing Grace’ named ‘Best Boat Ride’ by Lake Erie Living

Posted on September 16, 2014

Lake Erie Living magazine recently announced the ‘Best of Lake Erie’ in Ohio, Ontario, New York, Pennsylvania and Michigan.

The Lakeside Wooden Boat Society’s Amazing Grace Charter was named ‘Best Boat Ride’ by Lake Erie Living readers.

Christened in July 2008 at the Lakeside Wooden Boat Show, Amazing Grace is a rare 1937 Richardson Cruiseabout.

The 32-foot wooden boat was purchased by a Lakeside family in 2007 and then donated to the Chautauqua community to provide wooden boat rides to guests.

Its meticulous restoration was completed by Lakeside Wooden Boat Society member and owner of Classic Marine, Dwight Davis.

Each summer, the Lakeside Wooden Boat Society offers a variety of boating opportunities for Lakeside Chautauqua guests, including hour-long sunset cruises aboard Amazing Grace. Private charters are also available to cruise the Lake Erie islands.

This year’s list of Lake Erie Living winners was generated by votes cast by www.lakeerieliving.com visitors over the summer. There were 159 winners in 82 different categories.

The full list of winners is included in September/October 2014 issue of Lake Erie Living.

Congratulations to other local winners, including Sandusky, Ohio for ‘Best New Scene,’ Port Clinton, Ohio for ‘Best Waterfront Plans,’ Kelleys Island Venture Resort for ‘Best Island Stay for Kids,’ West Bay Inn for ‘Best Sunset’ and Lake Erie Shores & Islands for ‘Best Voice of the Summer: Walker Hayes with the song ‘Lake Erie Love.’
