Lakeside Writing Project

Posted on July 18, 2014

Last year, the Lakeside Writing Project was introduced to the community.

Lakesiders of all ages were encouraged to submit poetry, short stories and artwork or photography (black and white only) based on the theme: What Might be Lurking in Lake Erie.

The response was overwhelming, with more than 60 submissions filling the pages of the book, titled What Lurks…?

Copies of last year’s book are still available at The Fine Print bookstore.

Lakesiders are invited to once again submit entries to be published.

The theme for this year is: what the rafters heard.

What if the rafters of Hoover Auditorium, the gazebo, Hotel Lakeside, the old schoolhouse, the Pavilion or a cottage porch could speak? What tales and images would they share?

All ages are welcome to submit entries to the North Coast Kite Company, located at the entrance of the Pavilion, or mail submissions to 126 Jasmine Ave., Lakeside, OH 43440.

Submissions may also be submitted online at

The deadline is Monday, Sept. 1.

The published collection will be available at The Fine Print bookstore in May 2015. Advance copies will be available online for purchase at for Christmas delivery.
