Complete a Questionnaire about Our Community

Posted on March 15, 2016

Lakeside will welcome Dr. Christine D. Pohl,  Associate Provost and Professor of Christian Ethics and Church in Society at Asbury Theological Seminary, from August 14-18.

She has completed extensive focus group research identifying the core practices essential for community life and authored the book Living into Community: Cultivating Practices that Sustain Us.

We will be using Dr. Pohl’s research to begin a dialogue about community and the core practices needed for a thriving one. You’re invited to participate in interviews and storytelling opportunities this spring and to take an electronic questionnaire now.

“Religious as well as secular research have recently rediscovered that humans need to ‘belong’ and describe various versions of our longing for community—a place where one is known, or at least a group where everybody knows your name. Many of us are looking for community,” writes Pohl.

From your important input, we’ll create a discussion booklet to be used during Dr. Pohl’s visit to Lakeside. Please forward the questionnaire to other community members that would be interested in participating.

Leading up to her visit, the Rev. Dr. Norman “Ned” Dewire, Director of Religious Life, and Gretchen Colon, Senior Vice President of Advancement & Communications, will host two luncheon conversations to discuss community on Wednesday, Aug. 3 and Wednesday, Aug. 10.
