FAQ for the Pool & Wellness Center

Posted on June 27, 2018

As Lakesiders enjoy a fully functional Grindley Aquatic & Wellness Campus for the first time, the Lakeside staff is working hard to ensure that all individuals are informed about the new facility so that they can easily incorporate health and wellness into their daily lives.

We have been having conversations with people about their concerns and listening to their questions. As a result of these conversations, we have found several points of information that we would like to take the time to communicate.

Why are the exercise/wellness classes not listed in the Lakesider?

The schedule of classes is very fluid and dependent on instructor availability. Although the programming staff has been working for months to create a schedule that best serves our community, there are often last minute changes made after the Lakesider goes to print. For this reason, we have made the conscious decision to omit the class schedule from the newspaper. Instead, we have created a separate handout that is being distributed across the grounds and posted online at www.lakesideohio.com/recupdates.

Where/what is Drackett Hall?

Drackett Hall is the large multi-purpose room in the Wellness Center. This is a site for exercise classes, Wellness Seminars, private events and more. To book Drackett Hall for your event, contact conference@lakesideohio.com.

Who selected the exercise class offerings?

The exercise classes that Lakeside is offering were determined by community surveys that were done during the Pool & Wellness Campaign in 2016. After suggestions were collected from the community, a Wellness Advisory Team was created to explore and narrow the options that would best suit the Lakeside community.

Can I sign up for exercise classes online?

All exercise and wellness classes are first-come, first-served. The classes do not allow individuals to reserve spots in advance.

Why are there no free weights in the Fitness Room?

When choosing the equipment for the Magruder Hospital Fitness Room, Lakeside wanted to ensure that we would maximize the potential of the space for the demographics of Lakeside. A team from The Ohio State University assessed our community and made recommendations for the equipment that was purchased.

How do we enter the pool and Wellness Center?

Individuals wishing to access the pool should enter through the pavilion building on the north side of the pool. Individuals wishing to access the Wellness Center should enter down the fire lane to the west of the pool (near the LifeTrail Outdoor Wellness Park) that leads to the main entrance of the Wellness Center. The path is intended for pedestrian usage only, or as a fire lane in case of emergency, and the large flower pots on that path are meant to stop golf carts from using it.

Can we park at the pool and Wellness Center?

There is limited space for parking cars and golf carts. We encourage able-bodied individuals to either walk or ride bikes, or to utilize the complimentary shuttle service to and from the Grindley Aquatic & Wellness Campus. For those with limited mobility, the Mack Mobile is available by calling (419) 341-8247.

Are there age limits for the Magruder Hospital Fitness Room?

Yes. The Magruder Hospital Fitness Room, and all the equipment in it, is available to individuals age 14 & older. There will be no exceptions.

The Grindley Aquatic & Wellness Campus is a facility that is meant to serve and enhance the lives of all who enter Lakeside. We are pleased to see the high demand for the pool, Fitness Room and exercise classes.

As you make use of this facility, we look forward to your questions and concerns, as we will sincerely take them into consideration when evaluating our operations and communications.

Please direct questions to the pool and Wellness Center support staff, and make use of the suggestion box in the Wellness Center, as we will be reading each and every comment that we receive.
