Pool Update

Due to COVID-19, your pool experience at the Grindley Aquatic & Wellness Campus will look much different this year. As we continue to modify and improve our safety procedures and online reservations process, we appreciate your patience and understanding. Please read updates to the reservation process, hours of operation, check-in procedures and more below. Any new announcements and procedures are bolded and italicized below.

Capacity

The pool has traditionally held 300 swimmers at a time in the past. However, the capacity this summer has been reduced to 60 swimmers per timeslot for safe social distancing. Chairs and tables are available for use but are not to be moved as they are placed 6 feet apart for safe social distancing. Please note that we have purposely placed more chairs on the pool deck than capacity to make it easier for family groups to find spaces together and maintain distance from others.

Online reservations

To use the pool, you must make an online reservation for Open Swim and Lap Swim; available on a first-come, first-served basis.

With the overwhelming excitement and interest for the pool on opening weekend, hundreds of Lakesiders have been logging on at the exact same time to make a reservation, filling timeslots literally within seconds. Some Lakesiders have expressed frustration with the reservations system. We appreciate your comments and feedback as we refine the pool reservations process.

To ease use, we’ve outlined how to access the pool reservations using a computer or smartphone and included tutorial videos for each device. At this time, we do not recommend making a pool reservation using a tablet.

Online reservation tips

  • Make your account ahead of time, not right at the time you want to reserve. If you already created an account for Rhein Center registration, use your same login and password
  • Add all family members at once, so you don't have to take the time to add someone later
  • Pick a password you'll remember! You need at least 8 characters, 1 letter and 1 number
  • If you receive a message that your email is being used by another account, then go back to the 'Sign In' screen and click 'Forgot Your Password?" to reset your login. You already have an account from a previous year. New family members may be added to this account.
  • Each timeslot for Open Swim is available to reserve 24 hours in advance. Once the timeslot starts, reservations for that timeslot close
  • Open Swim reservations will not be visible through the Rhein Center class catalog; they will only be visible from the pool reservations page
  • Only make a reservation for the pool if you plan on swimming. Please do not schedule a reservation to sunbathe or read by the pool

Limited reservations

You will be allowed only one reservation per day and limited to 6 swimmers per registration. Please be mindful and considerate of your time spent at the pool. Limit your family's reservation to 2-3 times per week and check back to see if there are last minute openings. Also, to ensure that all swimmers are able to swim, please refrain from making a reservation at the pool to sunbath or read. Please use the pool reservations to enjoy the water and swim.

FAQs

How do I cancel a pool reservation?

You may cancel your entire reservation (you and your entire party) through the online reservations system. To cancel part of your reservation (only a few members of your party), contact the Pool staff at (419) 702-7598 or the Rhein Center at (419) 798-4461, ext. 276.

Are the bathrooms and showers open at the pool?

Yes, the bathrooms are open and sanitized frequently. There are indoor and outdoor rinsing showers. All guests are required to leave once the 90-minute timeslot expires for sanitation of the facility, therefore, please shower before your timeslot expires.

Why aren't the slides open?

The stairs, railings and slide tunnels require sanitation between timeslots. In order to keep sanitation time down and allow more time for Open Swim, we have closed the slides.

Why aren't the water features on?

The water features at the pool fall under water park restrictions and are currently turned off.

Are there new protocols for Lap Swim?

Yes, swimmers interested in morning or evening Lap Swim must make a 30-minute reservation for a lane. Only one person per lane; must be age 14+ for Lap Swim. The lanes are 7 feet between center lanes allowing for appropriate social distancing.

Can I book a pool party?

Yes, on certain evenings the pool is available to book private pool parties. Parties must maintain social distancing and follow pool protocols. Maximum attendance is 50 swimmers. For more information or to book a pool party, contact conference@lakesideohio.com or call (419) 798-4461, ext. 279.

Are the Baby Pool & Splash Park open?

The Baby Pool and Splash Park remain closed at this time. The high lake water and storm debris, as well as the State of Ohio regulations are making it difficult to open these venues at this time. We will revisit this decision as the summer progresses.
