There are a variety of worship celebrations every Sunday during the summer. Some are more casual than others, but all offer a wonderful spiritual experience to all who participate.


Lakefront Worship Service

8:30 a.m. Sunday
Steele Memorial Bandstand

This informal worship service near water’s edge includes prayer requests, a variety of Christian hymns and contemporary songs, an inspiring message, and the Sacrament of Holy Communion (with individual commercially packaged communion kits). The service is led by Rev. Dr. Scott Wilson, Lakefront Worship Coordinator. While some seating is provided guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets and to practice safe social distancing. In the case of inclement weather, this service will be cancelled.

Lakeside United Methodist Church Worship

9 a.m. Sunday
Lakeside United Methodist Church (450 Central Ave.)

This traditional church setting offers a vibrant style of worship using inspirational song and motivational words. The Rev. Karen Graham leads this morning worship service and is pastor of Lakeside UMC.

Chautauqua Community Worship Service

10:30 a.m. Sunday

(Children’s Church offered at Bradley Temple)
Well-known guest preachers from across the United States inspire Lakesiders at the Chautauqua Community Worship Service. Featuring music and the spoken Word, Michael Shirtz and inspiring guest artists provide musical leadership, while the liturgy is led by the Rev. Dr. Charles Yoost, Director of Religious Life. While some seating is provided, guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets and to practice safe social distancing. In case of inclement weather, a rain location will be announced via social media.

Sunset Praise

8:30 p.m. Sunday
Pavilion West Deck
This musical service along the lake features praise music and traditional hymns. Coordinated by John and Bonnie Wilkie. Please note the change of location. Please practice safe social distancing. In the case of inclement weather, this service will be cancelled.

Vespers by the Lake

7:30 p.m. Tuesday & Thursday
Steele Memorial Bandstand
A half-hour evening worship service at the bandstand, overlooking Lake Erie. On Tuesday evening, the Preacher of the Week shares a brief homily following a time of singing and prayer. Thursday evening Vespers are led by the Rev. Karen Graham, pastor of Lakeside United Methodist Church and includes the celebration of Holy Communion in which all may partake. (Individual commercially packaged Communion kits are used and social distancing is practiced.)

Giving During Worship

An offering is received during the Sunday morning worship services. In addition, persons may make a special gift to support Religious Life at Lakeside Chautauqua through a virtual giving plate at lakesideohio.com/today.

Altar Flowers

One arrangement of flowers can be placed on the altar for $75. The flowers can be dedicated in memory or in honor of loved ones. Contact the Rev. Dr. Charlie Yoost, Director of Religious Life & Church Outreach, at cyoost@lakesideohio.com if you are interested in purchasing flowers for the altar.
